tox (Tomcat, Oracle, and XML)

I've published a new version of tox, version 1.1 build 0.

The tox (Tomcat Oracle & XML) web archive is a foundation for development of HTTP based applications using Tomcat (or some other servlet container) and an Oracle RDBMS. Use of tox requires coding primarily in PL/SQL, JavaScript, and XSLT, but also in HTML, CSS, and potentially Java. Coded in Java and PL/SQL itself, tox provides the foundation for more complex applications to be built.

The tox framework enables the construction of applications using the model/view/controller (MVC) design pattern. With a controller that executes interpreted XML for creating the model and view, developers can construct new functionality. The model is retrieved either via includes or by the execution of Oracle's stored procedures and then passed to an XML Stylesheet transform (XSLT) to construct and return the view. Different combinations and options provide rich dynamic content.

691 days...

So it has now been 691 days without habeas corpus. As a programmer I'm considering writing a program that will email my senators and my representative every day asking them when they will either co-sponsor the existing bills or create their own bill which will review the habeas corpus suspension.

495 days...

So who to vote for to be president... I think the present administration is a total mess. I recall a comedy routine, Lewis Black I think, who put it well though, I paraphrase... "How could the Democrats come up with the only nominee on the planet, that would make George W. Bush look good."

I fear we will get no better this time around, except that both parties will give us a buffoon. We will again choose between the least of evils, and end up with an evil. It makes Ron Paul and Mike Gravel look appealing. What's that I hear? ...honesty. But wait, the front runner Rudi shouted him down with rhetoric... good I though I was living in New Zealand or Canada for a minute there.

Do we see how wrong it has all gotten? ...the war ...the deficit ...the oil ...the pandering ...not to mention really scary stuff like the suspension of habeas corpus. Does John Doe even know what habeas corpus is? Does he realize that the government can declare him an enemy combatant, send him to federal prison, and leave him there without any recourse forever? ...no lawyer ...no charges ...no judge ...no trial ...too bad.

And the new congress (didn't we flip Republicans for Democrats) has been in session for how long, and still not restored this constitutional right. Artical I, Section 9 of the constitution states, "The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it." Are we under rebellion? ...No. Are we under invasion? ...No, twelve men in three airplanes six years ago does not define as an invasion. So is this even constitutional... Oops, it can't come up in the courts and make its way to the Supreme Court, because without habeas corpus, there is no way to address it since those affected have no court access.

So with things like this going on in America, who in the 2008 election looks appealing? Check those who you can, to see how they voted on war authorization (mind you not a declaration of war). Check to see how they voted on the latest war funding bill. Check to see how they voted on habeas corpus. ...then please help us all bring to power a leader that can correct this mess.
